about

Michi Raab was born in post-war Japan to an American father and Japanese mother. The family moved to Hawaii in the 1960s. Amid the lush, colorful environment and rich Asian culture of the Hawaiian Islands, Michi began showing her artistic acumen in continuous art classes and independent projects. At an early age her drawings were shown in group shows at The Honolulu Academy of Arts. At 17 years old she travelled to New York City to begin her formal art studies at Pratt Institute. Two years later she transferred to the Fashion Institute of Technology for formal instruction in fashion design.

During her 30 + years working as a fashion designer, Michi continued her fine art studies at The Art Students League, Cooper Union, SUNY Empire State Collage, and The New School. She had a one-person show, and has been featured in several group shows.

Michi resides and continues to create in New York City.
